Skylight Theatre night

Our Skylight family of artists have first priority in scheduling auditions for our main stage productions.  When necessary, local casting directors assist with the process and, on occassion, roles may be listed on well-known casting sites.
Our monthly Play Reading Series allows for an exchange of ideas and talent.  Our performing artists are introduced to writers and directors, both new and well-known, while the writers and directors we meet each year continue to expand our reach.

Thank you for your interest in the Skylight Theatre Company.

Inkubator, Artistic Development Program - Skylight Theatre Company

Skylight develops and produces new works.  We're aware of  the amount of work that goes into crafting a new play and so we take the time to look at every submission, because of that it may take a good 90 days before we're able to give you an answer. To be considered for a main stage production, plays go through the Play Reading Series.

Before you submit:

Please read about the Play Reading Series, the agreement (included in the pdf which you can view and print below), and what you can expect from Skylight.

What you need to know about the submission process: (updated 5/1/2016)

Play submissions are accepted from the 1st through the 15th of each month. We accept only new, full length works and are particularly interested in works that are inclusive, examine contemporary culture and mores, and help expand mainstream theatre. We've also been known to be a little partial to local writers.

If you would like to submit your work for our Play Reading Series:

PRINT submission package

Once it's completed and signed, send the required materials in a single email to   Include the title of your play in the subject line.

We're sorry but due to volume we are not able to accept submissions through the mail.  If your script is not currently available in an electronic format it will need to be scanned before submission.  Signed Submission Release Agreements may be mailed, but will delay processing of your submission; plays are not reviewed until the agreement is in hand

Submissions must include:

  1. The complete play script.
Musicals should include a recording of 2 representative, preferably contrasting, musical numbers for the play submitted.

  2. Short bio of the playwright in narrative format (100 words)

  3. Short synopsis of the play (100 words)

  4. Statement of interest describing where you are in the development of the play and what you hope to get from an INKubator reading (250 words)

  5. The Submission Release Form – completed and signed.

IMPORTANT: Submissions sent off-cycle from the 16th to the end of the month, will not be processed or considered. To be considered, resend during the submission period.
